They all said it would go by way too fast

I was at a baby shower yesterday. I was sitting in this room of ladies -- about 20 in all with 6 that happened to be pregnant -- and I realized that even though I wasn't the oldest I was a little out of place with the 'baby talk'. All these moms were talking diapers and breastfeeding and due dates and it suddenly hit me that I haven't had those talks in a while.
I know it's still a few months away but all of the sudden the fact that my son was about to be 10 just hit me. Whoa! A decade of motherhood. How crazy is that?
After I picked up the boys from school we popped by Tesco to use Silas' World Book Day token for a free book. He picked a small chapter book. As I was talking to Elam about his day and planning in my head snack time and homework time when we got home, I looked back and saw Silas about a half of a block behind us. He had his nose in that book and he was reading it on his way home. My youngest is reading chapter books on his way home from school! How is this possible? Where did the time go?
