This one will likely be filed under 'Those Crazy Americans'...

We now have a post box and a postal slot in our door. Slight overkill, it seems...but here's the story.
When we moved in the house back in April there was a huge crack in the window next to the door. When we reported it, we were told that the whole unit (door and window) would have to be replaced. They dragged their feet for months and we just got our new door/window 3 weeks ago. We thought it looked fab as you might remember the old front door was bright blue. BUT I noticed when he was nearly finished that the new door had no postal slot in it -- that's the way that 99% of England gets their mail. We mentioned it to the guy and he said he'd come back the next day to sort it out. 3 days later I contacted the property managers to tell them the issue and the fact that the guy never turned up. After a week with no contact (and our lovely postman delivering our mail to our sweet neighbors across the street), I went to the local hardware place and bought an external post box to put up on our wall. Another week goes by and then *TA-DA* this guy turns up to put the post slot in the door. Seriously?!?!? He thought we should just go without mail for 2 weeks?!?!? Whatever. I'm sure the postman is laughing every time he comes to our door. And he's probably just thinking we are over the top crazy Americans. Oh well.

The silver "2" on the black box beats the old wooden "2" all to pieces...love the new door...now the dilemma will not only be for the postman, but will guests "flap the flap" or ring the bell...You've without a doubt brought some smiles to the Scottish faces in the neighborhood by your cleaning up / face lift efforts ;D

Can you turn the mail box into a planter and put flowers in it? :)
