I'm still working 3 days a week (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) and I've picked up a few overtime shifts over the last month or so. I wanted to give some time...do something worthwhile. Picking people's grocery orders is not exactly a difference-making line of work, ya know? So, when one of the teachers asked if I would like to help with a reading program in the boys' school I jumped at the opportunity. I am working with 2 children twice a week in a computer integrated reading program. The children read a paragraph, type the sentences in the computer, and the program reads it back to them to make sure it's correct. I'm also going in one afternoon a week to let children read to me.
A few other things I've been doing:
- have lunch out with Ben -- we plan to make it a fortnightly thing
- coffee with friends
- continued involvement in the parent club and their fundraising efforts
- actually taking time to read or watch a movie -- I get some 'weekend time' during the week since my weekends are full of work
- church cleaning day
- catching up on some scrapbooking
