Familiar faces
A good friend from Dallas came for a quick visit last week. Sally and her daughter Katie came to see the sites of Durham and the NE and then they spent more of their holiday in London and Paris. We had a great time with them...although it seemed to go by much too quickly. The weather was supposed to be warm and sunny and in great English weather forecasting, it turned out to be cold and windy the whole time they were here. We did enjoy a trip out to Belsay Castle (my favorite bit was a walk through the woods on the way to the castle). We braved the wind and the rain at Chesters Fort and saw about a 12 foot section of Hadrian's wall -- we were a bit disappointed (mostly because of the weather) since we had envisioned a grand wall running miles along the rolling countryside hills.
We finished up the trip with an "unbirthday" party. Katie (who had been one of Silas' best pals in Dallas) kept talking about how she wanted to come back for Silas' 4th birthday party and Silas was assuring her that she was definitely invited. So Sally thought it would be best to celebrate all of our "unbirthdays". Fun stuff!
Thanks for coming guys! We already miss you!
