Signs of Spring

Spring had definitely arrived in Durham. We had *glorious* weather during the boys' 2 1/2 - week Easter break. We stayed around Durham the first week but we were able to get out and about in the English courtyside last week (thanks to our pastor and fam letting us borrow their 2nd car while they were on holiday). We did about 500 miles in 3 days -- went up to the tidal island of Lindisfarne, over to Keswick in the Lake District, stopped at Housesteads Roman Fort on Hadrian's Wall, and had a lovely walk through an *enchanted forest* at Belsay Hall and Castle.

A few signs of Spring here:

  • The boys have worn shorts quite a bit.
  • They started back to school this morning wearing jackets rather than coats.
  • I took the extra blanket off the boys' beds this morning.
  • I started hanging laundry back out on the clothesline.
  • Not only are the daffodils in full force, but trees are starting to flower.
  • The sun is shining!!! And it is shining much longer now...sunrise at 6a and sunset after 8p already.

Look at you using the word "holiday"!! I heard that a lot in Dominica.
