A conversation with Silas as we are walking across the street to pick up E from school...
Sy: I wish we had a car.
me: Really? Where would you want to go if we had a car?
Sy: America.
me: Hmmm. America is all the way across the ocean, and you can't drive a car there.
Sy: You could take a bridge across the ocean.
me: Oh, the ocean is far too big to build a bridge across.
Sy: A really BIG bridge?
me: Nope. The ocean is too deep to even try to build a bridge.
Sy: You could use a stick. A really long stick.
me: There aren't any sticks that would reach that far.
Sy: I think you could nail 2 sticks together.
me: Wow. That's an idea. But the ocean is so deep that even 100 sticks nailed together wouldn't reach the bottom!
Sy: Well, we'll have to use 102 then!
me: *Smile*
