Both said tonight...both made me laugh (on the inside, of course).
Elam: Hey Mom, our school council meeting went exceedingly well today.

me: Silas, do you want me to get you a new pair of jeans to wear for 'jeans and t-shirt day' next week? (He's outgrown all his jeans...and they aren't his favorite kind of trousers.)
Sy: Yes. Can you get me a new t-shirt too?
me: Silas, you have plenty of t-shirts. You'll probably want to wear your Ben 10 shirt. Don't you think?
Silas: Actually, I want a smart one.
me: Really, you want a nice one with stripes or something?
Silas: Yeah, just something plain. Stripes are good.
