Working at Tesco lets me discover things on the shelves that I probably would just pass by if I only shopped there once or twice a week. I found this box of macaroni the other day. It looks promising. The directions are nearly identical to that beloved blue box kind we get in the States. It's 75 pence (about $1.15 at the current rate)...so not exactly the cheapest but it may be a taste of home that doesn't have to shipped all the way across the ocean. I'll probably make it at some point this weekend, so we'll let you know the verdict. This could be very important news to fellow Americans in the UK.

DON'T DO IT!!! :) We bought a box a month or so ago and it was NASTY. Sorry to burst your bubble, but maybe y'all will like it!
Mac & Cheese...hard to believe it could ever be "nasty" but then again...
I think God's greatest gift to mankind, next to Jesus of course, is Mac & Cheese.
This may be a silly question, but is there something radically awesome about the blue box that you don't get if you cook macaroni and make a cheese sauce?
Julie (fascinated by Americanisms)
Kraft macaroni and cheese (always in a blue box) is maybe as American as peanut butter and jelly (jam) sandwiches. The majority of us were raised on the stuff. So, it just tastes good...and it 'bleeds America'!
If you ask a chef, I'm sure s/he would say the make your own mac-n-cheese is better...but I suppose our love for the stuff out of the blue box is just a slight obsession. An obsession similar to those Brits that simply LOVE Marmite. :)
