Books...

are definitely a big part of our family's lives. As noted in a previous post, Ben has several bookshelves full of books (plus about 6 or 8 copy boxes full of books at his parents' house). I have a bit of a book collection myself -- mostly children's books that either fit into the collection that we presently have for the boys OR were ousted from the bookshelves and boxed up to accomodate Ben's books. :) The love for books has definitely trickled down to our boys...Elam was a very early reader and has always been able to look at books for 30 mins. at a time without much trouble.

So...here is my dilemma...choosing books. I am in the midst of getting all these things ready for a garage sale. It was not very painful for me to pack up the kids' toys, or to pack up my vases, platters, knick-knacks, etc. Books on the other hand hold much more sentiment for me. I can't decide if I should keep the books that had special meaning for me when I read them to E and Sy, books that the boys asked me or Ben to read 1.5 million times (in a row), or the ones that have some great moral message to hand down from generation to generation. It is hard! I have successfully packed up 2 pretty good sized boxes...but even then I have that horrible feeling that the boys will ask me the day after I sell them where a special book is.

So far my philosophy has been .... you can NEVER have too many books! I'm sure THAT will come back to haunt me. Sam is the same way with books -- when the house gets quiet, I usually find him in his spiderman chair in front of his bookshelf. I love it!
