First Trip to A&E

I got a call this afternoon that E had hurt his wrist on the playground and that he was complaining of pain whenever they asked him to move it. I picked him up and the school nurse and secretary both agreed with me that we should take him to Accident & Emergency (the British Emergency room). They gave him a makeshift splint before we left. Our next door neighbor drove us to the hospital (thanks Shelli!) and we picked up Ben in the city centre on the way. We've heard horror stories about A&E, so we were keeping our expectations very low.

We checked him in at 2pm. We saw a triage nurse within 5 minutes and then were sent to X-Ray. They x-rayed him in another 10 minutes and then we returned to the A&E waiting room. We waited there about 45 minutes before we saw someone (I think a nurse practitioner???) that examined E's arm and then checked the x-rays. Nothing is broken...she suspects it's just a sprain. We were out of there and walking to the bus stop at 3.15pm. Not bad!!!

He's still got his arm in the splint (she said that he could wear it again tomorrow if needed but not more) but surprisingly he seems to be fine now that he's had a bit of attention and he knows that nothing is wrong.

Silas played with some type of ship in the waiting room and said that he would bring his Spiderman and some other guys to drive it the next time we visit. It wasn't a bad experience but I'll be ok if we don't visit again in the next 2 years that we're here. :)

Update: He was running around in the back garden with friends around 6pm and took the sling off himself...he's fine!

Good to hear things are "fine". I would imagine he's tough little nut. Especially when he gets redirected.

Let him know we're thinking about him. And we did receive the "thank you" note.
