Update on Mr. E

Just in case you were wondering what's going on with our firstborn with all the talk about Silas below, here's the news on Elam.

  • He's entered into a new stage in regards to friends and birthdays...everyone used to have the massive-invite-the-whole-class kind of birthdays. Now it seems that you just invite the boys. His last friend just invited him...and they spent a day in York together with his family. They went to the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum.

  • The next day he was asked to go to Krazy Kingdoms with the same friend, so they've had a couple of nice days together.

  • E has taken a break from most after school activities...he's just in karate this term. He'll be going for his next belt at the end of June.

  • He's still really into playing games...and he's getting really good at them. Yesterday he beat me in cribbage. :)
  • He's still reading like a superstar. He's on book 5 in the Harry Potter series.
  • He loves to go on his Lego.com website when he has the chance. They have it set up where different characters *email* them with clues and missions. He is also linked up with a friend from school that plays on there as well.
  • He still dreams of becoming a scientist or magician one day. But I have told him that he would make a great teacher. He has an incredible heart for young children (apart from his brother most days!). Whenever a young one is over visiting, he's there helping them find toys, or protecting them when they walk up the stairs. And all the little ones seem to adore him. :)

Sounds like Elam is taking after his very smart and nurturing parents. That's wonderful. And my, he has a variety of interests which is terrific.

I really like the picture you posted of him. He is so cute and I love his smile. I can't believe how grown up he's looking - it makes me feel old. I promised myself a long time ago that I wouldn't say things like "I remember when you were just a little baby" to kids, so I will have to refrain when we finally connect this summer. I'm glad to know too that he'll take good care of Viv when we're together. Have I mentioned how excited I am?
