I've been wanting to make traditional British scones for a while. So, I had a go for Valentine's day. I made these scones:
- 225g/8 oz self-raising flour
- pinch of salt
- 55g/2 oz butter
- 25g/1 oz caster sugar
- 150ml/5 oz milk
Mix flour and salt together. Cut in butter. Stir in sugar and milk. Lightly knead on floured surface. Roll out to ~ 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into circles. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 220C/425F.
and then cut them with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. We added jam (strawberry and/or raspberry) and some excellent extra thick cream with Madagascan vanilla. SOOO yummy!

Could you please pass me some extra thick cream with Madagascan vanilla? Wow.
Yum, yum, yum...amazing how we can be spurred on to try new recipes when anticipating giving up chocolate for Lent ;)
those look fantastic! I'm going to do my best to do the measurement conversion and make them here. yum.
