We decided to check out the Loch Ness 2000 Exhibition while the rain continued. It was an interesting exhibit that gave loads of information on how a sea monster possibly could live in the loch, all the myths and hoaxes surrounding the tale, and also lack of evidence in modern day science. It was dark throughout the exhibit and at one point Elam grabbed my hand and said, 'If this place starts shaking, I'm outta here!' At the end it was 3 to 1 in our family of who believes Nessie is actually out there in the loch -- Elam, our little scientist, really wants to believe that it's out there somewhere. You should ask him about his Nessie hypothesis at some point. :) After a LONG visit in the gift shop (E found a Nessie ball cap and Silas has a stuffed Nessie that he sleeps with now), we headed out to Urquhart (said urk-art) Castle right on the edge of the loch. We enjoyed the beautiful views there and even spotted a rainbow.
***Dad, you'll be interested to know that the Clan MacDonald took over the castle at one point in it's 1000 year history. It's said that whoever held the castle, held the loch.
