Clean Sweep

We have a date set for our first yard sale -- Apr. 8th. Avriel, my sister-in-law, has graciously agreed to let us have a couple of yard sales at her house since we can't have one here at our condo. I have been working for the past few days on pricing and boxing up as much stuff as we can and still live in our place for several more months. It really is shocking how much I am able to get rid of that really hasn't changed our way of living. We are up to 15 boxes plus other stuff that won't fit into a box like our big baby stroller and a toy bin.

So, as I have been purging our lives of stuff...I have been aware of other stuff that we need to use up before we leave.
  • I am determined to not buy any shampoo, conditioner, lotion, tylenol, ibuprofen before we leave. We have to get through all the stuff we already have.
  • Since I stocked up on Lysol wipes this week (how did I ever live without those?), I also don't want to have to buy any more cleaning products...even if I have to clean the toilet with Resolve carpet cleaner later. :)
  • I also am trying to use up all the stuff from my pantry...no need to waste a bunch of food. If anyone has some great recipes that will use up a ton of brown sugar and cinnamon instant oatmeal, a 5 lb. bag of dried apriciots (not sure why I ever bought those in the first place), soy sauce, tea bags, and Karo syrup, please let me know.

Great Stir fry sauce -- 1/4 c. soy sauce, 1/4 c. water, 1/4 c. cooking sherry, 2 TBS. Karo, 2 TBS. Rice vinegar -- after you get that mixed up add 1 TBS Cornstarch.

You could modify an apple brown betty recipe for the oatmeal packages. Cut up 3 apples, and then toss in a handful of the dried apricots, add 1 TBS water and put in deep dish pie plate.

Topping: Four/ five pkgs. of your oatmeal, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. flour, 1/4 c. chopped walnuts, a little more cinnamon if you want...cut in 6 TBS butter and crumble on top of the apple mix. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.

Yum, wish I were there for dinner! love, mom
