I meant to blog this a week ago when it happened...I just ran across the note as a reminder.
During our car ride home from school, I told Elam I needed help cleaning and rearranging his room since we removed several things for the garage sale. He proceeded to tell me that he only likes to clean his room on Saturdays (allowance day) because on the other days he doesn't receive any reward for it. I quickly proposed to him that maybe I ought to only cook dinner, wash dishes, and do laundry on certain days since I don't receive any reward for it (and often receive "Oooh mom, do I have to eat this?" or "Where are all my clean underwear?"). When we arrived home Elam promptly went to his room and I had visions of him at least picking up a few things and making some kind of attempt at his room. He emerged a few minutes later with a handmade card that said, "Thank you that you do stuf like woshing coths. love Elam". That bit of encouragment should keep me going for at least another week. :)
