My Small Tornado

So...for everyone out there that wonders what SAHMs do all day...here is a glimpse of just a small portion of the first 2 hours of my day. :)

I have allowed the boys to play with several toys over the past few days that I plan to get rid of at the garage sale this weekend...last chance. So this morning Silas got interested in some sand toys and came to ask me for some sand. I told him that I didn't have any but had a great idea from a mom I knew several years ago. I filled the sand bucket with dry rice and told him he could use the shovel to scoop rice in and out of the different sand toys. He sat down in the living room to play while I went to work on the computer to ready some stuff for our home Bible study tonight. I am sure you realize at this point that my vision of him carefully scooping rice back and forth was, well, incredibly stupid! In about five minutes, our entire living room was covered with rice. So, we had a chance to use up the next 10-15 minutes playing the vacuum-up-the-rice game -- Silas with the dustbuster and me on the Hoover. :)

I went back to the computer and Silas went back to "tornado-mode". He proceeded to pull out every card in a board game and scatter them all over the floor. I told him that he can watch a cartoon once the cards are all picked up. I think he has decided on a no TV day.

It's good we have an outlet to share stuff like this! Love the rice idea, but I'm remembering to "pull it out of my mind" when it's time to vacuum the floor anyway. What a day ... watching a video always works to help Sam be motivated to cleanup, I can't imagine Silas choosing not to!
