Captain Tiger Berrytrail's Birthday Bash
E's party was a success on Sunday. We started out by giving the boys (8 in all) a balloon sword (thanks Ben!) and an appropriate pirate name. Ever wonder how to find your pirate name? We went with the name of your first pet (or first cuddly animal if you never had a pet) and the first street name you remember living on. So, we were celebrating the birthday of Captain Tiger Berrytrail (son of Fluffy Lavera and Muffin Thayer).
We had a scavenger hunt for sweets, a 'canonball' fight over our neighbor's fence, a treasure hunt for 'gold coins', a water balloon target toss at an enemy pirate ship, and pirate cake! Yes, the cake turned out great (if I do say so myself!). It was a really yummy cake, too...here's the recipe.

Heather -- and you were wondering why you were so tired at work on Monday??!! First clue...Elam said it was his all-time favorite birthday party (good job, mom, especially the pirate ship cakes; good job, dad, on the balloon swords -- no new eye patches needed there!) Second clue...a house full of pirates on a treasure hunt! Aaarrrggghhh! Love the pirate names -- so very clever!
Sounds like lots of fun! You are so creative!
That is all just too much fun!!! I'm proud of ya kid! That cake looks great, even tasty from where I sit. And Elam sure looks to be having a swashbucklin' good time!

What fun!! Wow ... balloon swords, pirate names, amazing cake ... I'm thinking you need to write into Family Fun as a creative contributor. Awesome party ... can't believe that little man is 7!! I was just looking at my Dallas scrapbook the other day and saw the pics of your baby shower and of him as a wee one. :) Happy Birthday, E!
