Hyper-sensitive imagination

E used to LOVE to swing. My grandad put a Fisher Price swing on their condo deck when he was little and he would push him in that thing forever. Silas, well, he's not the swingin' type... never has been. Occasionally I can get him to swing for a bit...if it's not too high. We went to the park today and he wanted to give the swings a try. He said he would get in one, and Annie would get in the other (remember Annie, the red rabbit?) So, I gave him a little push and he reminded me that he had no intention of going 'high to the sky'. After his swinging died down he asked for another push. When I pushed him he had his eyes closed and that little imagination must have been going like crazy because he really started to panic. He was shaking and started screaming that he was 'hitting the sky' and he needed to stop. I told him to open his eyes and look down...look down to see how close his feet were to the ground. He finally calmed down when he realized it was the truth, but he looked at me with big eyes and said, 'Mom, I'm allergic to looking at the sky!'

I think a lot of people are allergic to looking at the sky!! Maybe when he's older Annie can convince him to go higher.

Sounds like you are going to have a nice time with Silas this weekend while the big boys are in London. I love that you are able to explore a new area and a new culture - even though I wish it was in southern california by me.

Oh, what a story! We are so glad you write down these accounts as they occur so we can enjoy them. You are a good writer, Heather.

Aren't we all allergic to the sky,
especially when we fly too high...

but then with love that knows no bound, Jesus tells us to "just look down".

ain't life grand!
