We'd been to Alnwick (said ann-ick) almost 2 years ago when my mom visited, but we only had time to check out the Gardens and Treehouse. The last Monday in August was a Bank Holiday (which means I don't have to work)...so we thought we'd make a family outing to Alnwick Castle. It was a really kid-friendly place. I think the boys most liked the magic shows and the birds of prey show. You'll see from the pictures that they got to assist in both of those.
Another interesting thing about Alnwick Castle is that it was used as Hogwarts school in the first and second Harry Potter movies. We took a great tour (from Seamus Finnigan's double in the movie) of some of the famous parts of the castle that were used in the filming. Now we're anxious to watch the movies again to see if we can recognize any of it as Alnwick.

How very exciting and really, really brave of the boys to "put on the glove" for the birds of prey...did mom snap the picture or dad? ;)
Ummm...that was all Ben. I'm NOT a fan of birds, though this show was pretty cool.
