Translation

Here are my answers from the previous post:

1. Your accent is really awesome.
2. I'm completely worn out.
3. My friend Susan is completely broke.
4. Watch out for splinters.
5. How are the kids?
6. Silas was goofin' around most of the morning.
7. Joe will get in trouble for goofin' around (in the sense of not being where you should and doing what you should be doing) at work.
8. The bananas are nasty (or disgusting).
9. He went out to get drunk.
10. She's as nice as anything.

Meredith, I think you should send me your address via facebook so I can get something to ya. :)

And speaking of translations, I had the chance to help out a customer the other day at the store. My friend Susan called me over, picked up a courgette, and said 'Heather, what would you call this?' I laughed and said, 'zucchini'. The customer standing beside her was very pleased. She had a recipe that called for zucchini and she had no clue what it was.

Such fun, heather! I knew quite a few from my geordie coworkers, but I still missed some- maybe because I don't deal with splinters not having any little boys around?? :) Dead canny as aught is fantastic! One of my favorites that I somehow relate to knackered is "gutted". A friend was "gutted" at the traumatic season finale of Dr. Who and someone at work was going to be "gutted" if the wall we were designing had to be downgraded from brick to paint. But you have to say it "guh-id" to make it sound right!

Thanks for those, though, great fun!
