My wonderful hubby told me that I needed to come see him for a few days in Berlin while we had our fabulous live-in babysitters (great-grandparents are the BEST!) still with us. Since his part is essentially already paid for...it is only a cost of my plane ticket for us to have some time together in Germany. Very cool! Since we don't often have date nights...several days together (sans kiddos) is going to be a huge blessing!
So the hesitation, you may ask??? Well, it's that crazy 'mother guilt' that I'm sure some of you can relate to. On Saturday E came home from playing at the park with a huge *egg* on his forehead and a fat lip (not to mention soaking wet from head to toe). Too much fun in a flooded skate park with his buddies. He ran up to have a hot shower and when he got out he slipped and split his lip on the toilet. Well, he's recovered quite well from that bloody mess. So, I'm thinking 'hey...surely nothing else will happen between now and the time I get back on Friday from my trip'. Famous last words. E came home from school today with a temp. Leaving a sick kiddo just plain stinks!

cous . . .i'm thrilled that you get to enjoy some time with Ben while Mo & Papa are there. Enjoy it and leave that mothering guilt in Durham!
You're leaving your kiddos in the best of hands. What a fun opportunity to travel and spend time with Ben alone.
I totally feel the guilt you're talking about ... I've arranged for a friend to stay with our boys while I go with Doug for a week on the youth summer trip. I was all brave and strong setting it all up. However, as the time gets closer the worry monster in my head is creating all the worst case scenarios in my head. The friend said this when I told her I was having second thoughts, "one of the best things i think my parents ever did for me was leave me with others that loved for time away. seriously. i think it's why i'm able to be so independent...but still LOVE them;)"
This is good. I want that. Hope you have a fantastic time and that the boys have a great time with their Mo and Papa.
Hey, it's not like Bill and Pat have forgotten "how". Them boys will be fine! Just enjoy your time with Ben! As they say, "let go and let God..."
love Dad
Have fun in Berlin! Can't wait to see pics.
