The night before Christmas we went to church for a family service. Our minister showed us how to make Christingles (read here for explanation) and we had communion. That night we let the boys open 2 presents -- one of them being great handmade pjs from their Great-grandma, Mo. We read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and tracked Santa on Google Earth. When we sqaw he was over Africa we sent the boys to bed.
The next morning we opened our stockings, read the Christmas story from Luke 2, and ate yummy breakfast casserole (I posted the recipe in the comment section here) before getting into the presents.
We shared Christmas dinner with Grandpa Mack, Grandma Brenda, and new friends Kevin and Ashley. We tried to bring a few traditional English elements to it. We all popped a Christmas cracker -- complete with surprise, crown, and lame joke! And desserts were all taditional English desserts -- sticky toffee pudding, mince pies, and chocolate yule log (actually, I think this is French but it flies off the shelves here at Tesco).
Here are just some of the highlights:

Brunch Casserole (from Alice M.)
1 pkg pork sausage -- cooked crumbled and drained (*in the UK I use Lincolnshire sausages -- grill them in the oven and chop)
10 lightly beaten eggs
3 c. milk
2 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
6 c. cubed bread
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp. pepper
Optional ingredients:
1/2 c. mushrooms
1 medium tomato
1/2 c. green onions
1 c. cubed ham
Butter 9x13 dish. Mix egg, milk, mustard, salt. Distribute 1/2 bread in buttered pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 the cheese, 1/2 pepper, and 1/2 optional ingredients. Repeat layering. Pour egg mix over. Bake at 350F/170C uncovered for 1 hour or until eggs are set. If it's getting too brown, tent with foil.
***This can be made the night before and refrigerated until baking (which is exactly why I like this for Christmas morning!)
