Since we weren't sure of when (or if) the house would be available, I dropped by the front desk this morning to request an extra week at the B&B, which they said was fine. He asked my name to put it in the system and when he heard it he told me that someone from the real estate office was trying to reach me yesterday. I'm glad I dropped by because by the way he mentioned it, I wasn't sure how many days it would take that message to reach us. Thank God I went by!
I had an appointment at 9:30 this morning to talk to a bank about an account, so I had about 20 minutes before that so I popped by the real estate office which is just a block or so down the street from the bank. Martin our agent said that our offer had been accepted and that we can move in on Tuesday afternoon! Even beyond that, he had secured beds, dressers, a desk, a dining room table, and a sofa for us. All for free! What a pleasant surprise. The normal two week move time is turning out to be just 5 days. They also take care of turning on the electricity, water, and gas. Wow! Praise God!
So then I went to the bank. They wanted independent verification of my US address from the school or my drivers license. However, both showed our Dallas address and not our new one. I had a bank statement with the new address but since it was only printed from the internet, it wouldn't work. The initial response was for me to change the address at the university and have them mail me a letter and then bring it in, but that would take almost 2 weeks. The guy had mercy upon me and just let us use the Dallas address since no mail will ever be sent there anyway. We were warned from others that it would take up to 2 weeks after this interview for the account to really be set up. However, I walked out with an account number and the debit card will arrive, Lord willing, in a week or so. Double Praise God!
