Church Performers

Last week we visited an evangelical Methodist church for the 2nd time. We celebrated Harvest (very close to our Thanksgiving) with them in the family service. The visiting pastor did a children's portion and had PowerPoint slides of various interesting animals that were part of God's creation. When she pulled up a slide of a frog, she asked the congregation what it was. Elam was quick to shout out "Poisonous Dart Frog!" She (and the rest of the congregation) were very impressed...we received several compliments on our "brilliant" boy after the service.

This week we visited the Baptist church down the road from our house for the 3rd time. One of the ladies in the church was giving a little talk on prayer and asked for some younger children to come forward to hold posters up for her illustration. When there didn't seem to be a final child volunteer, Elam relunctantly raised his hand and then went forward to assist. Silas took that as a sign that he needed to help out too so he ran up there as well. Apparently Sy thought that it was only his job to hold that poster and growled at his brother and told him to let go right as the lady was talking about praying for unrest in the world today. How fitting!
