Yesterday E came home with science homework -- on freezing liquids. The idea was to make a striped "ice lolly" (popsicle). He had to determine that the way to do that was to pour one color of liquid, freeze it, pour another liquid, freeze that, pour another, etc. to get it to be striped. At the bottom of the homework it asked , "What happens to the liquids when they freeze?" Elam's reply: "they go all hard". That phrasing is exactly how someone from NE England would say it!
