Why?

Ben asked me this morning if I noticed that Silas had entered the "why? stage". I actually hadn't -- I was more focused on the fact that he has been in the not listening and being defiant stage. Between the defiant (and time-out) bits of our day, here is a "normal" conversation.

• "Silas, please don't bite the edge of the table."
• "Why?"
• "Because when you bite down it leaves teeth marks and we don't want teeth marks on the table."
• "Why?"
• "Because we want to take care of this table."
• "Why?"

And on and on we go. I remember this stage lasting for several months with Elam, so I guess Sy will keep me on my toes for the next few months.
