- January - When I grew up Winter/Christmas breaks were about staying inside to play with our new Christmas toys and games (but mostly to stay warm).
- February - The iternary is set, the plane tickets bought.
- March - Ben arrived home yesterday at about 10.30p -- a little earlier than scheduled -- after about 18 hours of travel.
- April - BIG steps in our house today. Silas used the toilet 7 times!!!
- May - Have your carpets cleaned every 6 months (or more if you have children) -- if you are in Dallas, check out Havehouse.com (2 rooms done for $35)
- June - We just received emails from the British Consulate that our visas have been issued. Now we're official.
- July - We took our last load and had the condo completely cleared out and cleaned out by 9.30 p Wed. night.
- August - We have successfully made it over. Our flights were uneventful...which is obviously good when traveling with 2 kiddos.
- September - Elam and Silas have made some new neighborhood friends
- October - We finally received permission to hang mirrors (in the 2 bathrooms that didn't have them) and pictures.
- November - I just realized that we have now been in England for 3 months!
- December - Ben and I attended our first ceilidh (said kay-lee) last night.
That was interesting...you would think nearly our entire year was taken up with a big, life-changing move or something. :) But look, there's a celebration to end out the story!

Well done! Who knew you could use the first few words of each month's blog to write a Christmas letter re-cap...I bet it seemed like Silas had been potty trained for longer than he really has, hmmm?!
Wow! Yours was much more thematic than mine! :) Who would have thought?
Awesome to see the journey month by month. I might steal the idea from you friend too!
I thought the mentions of your journey were great, but the fact that you mention Silas potty training one month and having your carpets cleaned the next was priceless!
What a great idea for a blog entry! You guys have had quite a year...Glad you made it to Durham!
Jennifer, the carpets were REALLY cleaned in preperation to sell our condo...but I'm sure some of the potty training was part of why they needed it. Though I do have to say that Pergo flooring through most of that house helped to avoid too many "accidents". Too funny!
We had carpet in our *bathroom* when Caleb was potty-training. Talk about gross!
That was one of the first changes we made in our condo...it used to be carpeted in the bathrooms and the kitchen. Not great for potty training...or cooking spaghetti!
Man...what a cute family ;-) Y'all are looking great. Thanks for keeping in touch. We would love to see you next time we are up your way.
Ciao...
