Diamond Mining

We went to AR for the weekend. When Grandma Brenda and Grandpa Mack heard that Elam wants to be either a geologist or chemist when he grows up, they suggested we spend a morning out at Crater of Diamonds state park (the only diamond mine in the US and only public mine in the world). It is a huge plowed field with a couple of water stations where you can sift through dirt you dig up. The boys did some digging and found a few cool rocks. No diamonds for us...someone did find one as we were leaving though.

After the mining, we went to the public pool and the boys swam with Ben for about an hour. Elam is getting back into the deep end and trying to remember all his swimming strokes from last summer. Silas had fun jumping to Ben from the side and I am hoping that he will enjoy getting in next week when they both start swimming lessons.

E also had a chance to canoe with Ben on the Caddo River.
