A new sort of Field Day

So, re: Ben's post on "It looks like a good time to move to England" and the poor health of America...

I went to Elam's Field Day at his school today. The way I remember Field Day as a kid was a lot of running, relay races (w/ more running), baseball, kickball, etc. Elam's FD was a bit different... there were 3 inflatable slides for the kids to bounce down and then a shoe toss (standing still and flinging your shoe off your foot), a chicken toss (standing still and throwing a rubber chicken), and a beanbag toss. That was about it. Plus there were sno-cones, hot dogs, nachos, sodas, and lots and lots of candy to purchase with the tickets as well. It was definitely more of a carnival atmosphere that happened to be in a field -- Field Day???
